Earlier this week, Horizon School Division was honoured to gather with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community partners to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day.
We extend our sincere thanks to the Kawacatoose Boyz Dance Troupe and Drum Circle for generously sharing their culture and stories, and to everyone who joined us in marking this meaningful day of connection, reflection, and celebration.

Together, we raised flags, shared stories, and renewed our commitment to reconciliation — grounded in respect, learning, and lasting partnership.

National Indigenous Peoples Day

On this National Indigenous Peoples Day, we honour the knowledge, traditions, and strength of Indigenous communities.

Horizon is deeply grateful to the Elders who are helping shape our Indigenous Education Framework—teachings rooted in the thirteen poles of the teepee. Horizon's Indigenous Education Team has been honoured to learn from Elders of Day Star, George Gordon, Kawacatoose, and Muskowekwan First Nations, and we look forward to including voices from Fishing Lake and One Arrow First Nations as this important work continues.
