School Community Councils

School Community Councils (SCCs) are local advisory groups that support student learning and well-being, while encouraging parent and community involvement in schools. SCCs provide a valuable voice in local education and create opportunities for families and community members to work alongside schools on initiatives that support student success.
Each year, school staff, SCC members, and Horizon School Division leadership work together to create a Learning Improvement Plan (LIP) for each school. These plans focus on improving learning and are connected to division and provincial priorities to support student success.
Joining your SCC is a meaningful way to get involved in your school community and connect with teachers, administrators, and other families. For more information or to join, please contact your school principal or email: [email protected].
Please see our SCC Resources page for helpful tools, guides, and materials.
