As we reflect on the tragic legacy of the residential school system, we commit to learning truths and working towards reconciliation. As a tribute to the firefighters who risk their lives to keep Canadians safe, the second Sunday in September is designated as 'Firefighters' National Memorial Day.' Today, we honour the courage and sacrifice of the brave firefighters who lost their lives while protecting others.

On this special day, let's celebrate the joy of getting lost in a story, the excitement of discovering new ideas, and the endless possibilities that literacy affords us.
